How to connect Inateck Bluetooth Barcode Scanner?

Inateck offers a variety of industry leading barcode scanners including Bluetooth scanner, which is widely compatible with almost all devices like PC, mobile and tablet. Many customers want to know how to connect Inateck Bluetooth barcode scanner with their devices, here we’d like to share with you a simple and a detailed guide of how to setup step by step.

Firstly comes a quick guide for your easy reference, for the setting barcodes need to be scanned, pls refer to their user manual here:
 Applicable Models Quick Setup Steps
Inateck BCST-70, BCST-42_yellow,40,41 1. Scan "Enter setup" code
2. Scan "Bluetooth Pairing (HID) " or "Bluetooth HID Mode"
3. Enable the Bluetooth of target device.
4. Find Inateck model and connect.
Inateck P7, BCST-54, BCST-55, BCST-73, BCST-71, BCST-42_green, BCST-43

1. Scan "Enter to setup" code
2. Scan "Bluetooth Pairing (HID) " code.
3. Scan “Exit and Save” barcode.

(No 4.-5 are for switching device, otherwise pls skip to No. 6.
4. *Scan “Enter Setup” barcode again.
5. *Scan “Bluetooth Pairing” barcode.)

6. Enable the Bluetooth of target device.
7. Find Inateck model and connect.

Inateck BCST-50, BCST-52 1. Scan “Bluetooth Mode (HID)” barcode.
2. Scan “Match” barcode,
3. Enable the Bluetooth of target device.
4. Find Inateck model and connect.

According to the barcode scanner types, the connection method of them is a bit different, but basically they are 3 types of connection methods:

1. For the barcode scanner with only Bluetooth wireless & USB connection method, while the USB cable is not connected, the default mode is Bluetooth. Please follow these steps to connect Bluetooth, which is applicable to BCST-70, BCST-40, BCST-41, BCST-42_yellow scanners:
1) Turn on Inateck barcode scanner by toggling switch from OFF to ON.
2) Scan “Enter Setup” barcode on the user manual.
3) Scan “Bluetooth Mode(HID)” barcode.
4) Enable the Bluetooth of the device you want to connect, for example, computer, cellphone or tablet. For the frequently used systems, you can enable their Bluetooth as below.

  • Windows XP: Click Control Panel->Printers and Other Hardware->Add Bluetooth Device
  • Windows 7/8/8.1: Click Control Panel->Add Devices
  • Windows 10/11: Click Setting->Devices->Bluetooth
  • macOS: Click System Preference->Bluetooth
  • iOS: Click Setting->Bluetooth
  • Android: Click Setting->Bluetooth
  • For other systems like Chrome OS and Linux, please refer to their own instruction about how to turn on their Bluetooth.
5) Once the Bluetooth of target device is enabled, it will automatically search for Inateck barcode scanner. After a few seconds, Inateck scanner model will appear in the list of available devices (e.g. BCST-70). Just pair the two devices. A chords sound from the scanner means successful pairing.
6) Open a document like a Word or Notepad on your device and move cursor to the blank where scanning output should be placed. Then the scanning results will be displayed on device then.

2. For the barcode scanners come with Blueooth, 2.4GHz wireless and USB connection method, the default mode will NOT be Bluetooth, so we need to change the mode to Bluetooth by the following steps, which are applicable to Inateck P7,BCST-54, BCST-55, BCST-73, BCST-71, BCST-42_green, BCST-43:
1) Power on the scanner.
2) Scan “Enter Setup” barcode on the paper or online manual, depending on your scanner support on-screen scanning or not.
3) Scan “Bluetooth Mode(HID)” barcode.
4) Scan “Exit and Save” barcode.

(No. 5 & 6 are only necessary when you switch to another device to connect:
5) Scan “Enter Setup” barcode again.
6) Scan “Bluetooth Pairing” barcode, then the scanner will enter Bluetooth pairing status. )

7) Enable the Bluetooth of the device you want to connect. Enable the Bluetooth of the device you want to connect, for example, computer, cellphone or tablet. For the frequently used systems, you can enable their Bluetooth as below.
  • Windows XP: Click Control Panel->Printers and Other Hardware->Add Bluetooth Device
  • Windows 7/8/8.1: Click Control Panel->Add Devices
  • Windows 10/11: Click Setting->Devices->Bluetooth
  • macOS: Click System Preference->Bluetooth
  • iOS: Click Setting->Bluetooth
  • Android: Click Setting->Bluetooth
  • For other systems like Chrome OS and Linux, please refer to their own instruction about how to turn on their Bluetooth.
8) Once the Bluetooth of target device is enabled, it will automatically search for Inateck barcode scanner. After a few seconds, Inateck scanner model will appear in the list of available devices (e.g. BCST-54). Just pair the two devices. A chords sound means successful pairing.

Note:
  • Normally Inateck scanner can re-connect to previously connected device automatically. So from the 2nd time, you only need to do No. 7) & 8) steps to connect,
  • No. 5) & 6) are not necessary steps unless you need to switch from one Bluetooth device to another.
  • If the connection fails, you need to remove the paring history of our scanner in the Bluetooth paring list of your device, then pair them again.
  • HID and SPP are two modes of Bluetooth. The pairing method mentioned of Inateck scanners refers to HID, which is the most commonly used mode. If you want to use the scanner under SPP mode, please contact our customer service via our Email support@inateck.com.
3. For the BCST-50 & BCST-52 2D barcode scanner, their connection steps are a bit special as follows:

1) Power on the scanner
2) Scan “Bluetooth Mode (HID)” barcode on paper or online manual.
3) Scan “Match” barcode, If you notice the indicator flashes blue and green alternatively, then the scanner has entered Bluetooth paring mode.
4) Enable the Bluetooth of the device you want to connect, for example, computer, cellphone or tablet.
5) After a few seconds, Inateck scanner model will appear in the list of available devices (e.g. BCST-52 or BCST-50). Just pair the two devices. The blue LED is lit when the scanner is paired successfully.
